Ambassadors’ Retreat 2019 draws to a close
Friday 20 December 2019, marked the last day of the Ambassadors Retreat 2019, with a closing ceremony at the Savoy Resort & Spa. In his capacity as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vice President Vincent Meriton delivered his closing remarks, which was followed by a memorable performance by the Honorary Cultural Ambassador Patrick Victor singing his iconic song entitled “Koste Pep Losean Endyen” and a special performance by the Department of Foreign Affairs’ choir.
“It is clear that consistent communication is needed among the MDAs, private sector, and civil society with our missions abroad”, emphasized Vice President Meriton in his speech.
Under this year’s theme “Connect & Engage”, the ambassadors were able to fulfil the primary purpose of this Retreat, which was to connect with the Department and engage in discussions with various stakeholders in addressing the country’s national priorities.
During the course of the week, the ambassadors met with various sectors namely, Attorney General’s Office, Finance, Department of Public Administration, Seychelles Investment Bureau, Education, Health, Blue Economy, NISTI and APDAR.
On this note, VP Meriton further added: “We need to now ensure that we keep this momentum of being connected and engaged with capital and the national entities moving forward as we work on strengthening our foreign policy in 2020 which is mirrored in our National Development Strategy.”
On the last day of the Retreat, the ambassadors had a meeting with members of the International Affairs Committee and as is customary called on President Faure who conveyed to them his appreciation for the work that they are doing for the country.» All news
