Seychelles First Resident Ambassador Accredited to Cuba

On Friday 21st April 2017  Ambassador Joseph Nourrice presented his Letters of Accreditation to HE Mrs Gladys Bejerano Portela, Vice President of the Council of State and Comptroller General of the Republic of Cuba 

In presenting his Letters of accreditation, Ambassador Nourrice conveyed the fraternal greetings of President Danny Faure and that of the people of the Republic of Seychelles to the Government and the people of Cuba highlighting the long standing relations between the two countries. 

Ambassador Nourrice also took the opportunity to reiterate the condolences of the Government and people of Seychelles to the Government and the people of Cuba following the passing away of the Commandant President Fidel Castro Ruiz.

Seychelles and Cuba have since the establishment of Diplomatic relation in 1978, enjoyed an excellent bilateral relationship with Cuba’s assistance in many areas of our socio economic development. Cooperation in the  health sector  has been unprecedented, added Ambassador Nourrice while other areas of equally significant contributions in the recent past include sports, agriculture and environment amongst others.

Ambassador Nourrice further expressed the gratitude of the Government of the Republic of Seychelles to the Cuban Government for the invaluable assistance towards the setting up of the first ever Mission in Cuba noting that the upcoming State visit of President Faure is a solid testimony of the desires of both countries  to not only consolidate but also expand the level of our cooperation both at the bilateral and multilateral level.

Vice President Bejerano Portela on her part welcomed the step taken by Seychelles to open a Mission in Cuba and assured the Ambassador of the full support of her Government to further elevate the level of our cooperation to new heights. 

Vice President Bejerano Portela  and the Ambassador Nourrice concluded the discussion with a brief review of the state of cooperation and how this can be strengthened  while at the same time exploring new emerging areas of cooperation.
