20.05.2015

The Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Seychelles, H.E. Francisco Carlos Soares Luz ends his tenure in Seychelles and has bade farewell to President James Michel in a meeting held at State House and also signed a Bilateral Air Services Agreement between the two nations at Maison Queau de Quinssy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Transport yesterday.

Ambassador Luz and the Secretary of State For Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Barry Faure signed the document at a short ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Transport which will finalise the establishment of a modern framework to encompass major requirements of commercial operations in civil aviation.

The agreement will allow for; cooperative engagements like codeshare partnerships, the use of leased aircraft for fleet management, whilst also ensuring full compliance with the international civil aviation safety and security rules and procedures. In addition the agreement allows for a fully liberal capacity regime empowering the airlines to determine their own operations.

Secretary of State Faure opined “these conditions are consistent with the air transport policy of Seychelles which continues to motivate us to gear up to improve international connectivity on the ground.”

Ambassador Luz noted “fourteen million Brazilians travel abroad annually, of those only approximately one thousand visit the Seychelles. It is my fervent hope that this agreement will give the right impetus to ensure that a greater number visit the shores of Seychelles.”

“This agreement will act as gateway for further stimulus to be added to the development of bilateral relations. We look forward to the benefits that will be derived from this Agreement-particularly for the development of our tourism and trade sector,” said Secretary of State Faure.
