SEYCHELLES-UNITED KINGDOM RELATIONS : HIGH COMMISSIONER ACCREDITED

The Seychelles High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Mr. Claude Morel, presented his Letters of Credentials from President James Michel to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday 8th November during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

The strengthening of Seychelles-UK relations and the forthcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Uganda were at the centre of discussion during the private audience the Queen accorded to the new High Commissioner.

Mr. Morel was a guest at two receptions at Buckingham Palace where he had the opportunity to meet and interact with members of the Royal Family, political leaders including Prime Minister Gordon Brown, as well as colleague High Commissioners and Ambassadors.

During his visit to London, Mr. Morel met with the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Mr. Don McKinnon, and senior officials of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, among others.

He also visited the Seychelles' stand at the World Travel Market (WTM) and met with the delegation headed by Vice President Joseph Belmont.
